I'm back baby!

Good afternoon one and all!

You might be surprised to see a new post from me after my hiatus - but I decided to take a bit of a technology break and have some me-time. It's been great I have to say, but I have missed the internet and posting on here especially. I've been wearing some fab outfits and you guys have missed out on them all! I currently don't have the internet at home (due to the neighbours changing the password on their wireless - how dare they?!), but I'm moving to a new flat in just under a month and I'll have super speedy, photo-uploading internet there.

In the meantime,  I've been on holiday to Luxembourg to visit one of my best friends and I've had a new fringe cut in. SO in love with it. Partly because I now no longer need to pluck my eyebrows as often...

It's good to be back!

Peachy keen

I really am spoiling you with all of my work outfit posts! I promise I'll post a normal every day outfit soon :)

blazer: h&m / blouse: next / trousers: dorothy perkins / pumps: h&m / bracelet: handmade by me

I've wanted to show you all this peach blazer for a few weeks - it's my "I don't need a man, I've got a new job" blazer! I have a tendency to name my clothes depending on what's going on in my life. The pussybow blouse is too beautiful to need a name though - can you believe I got it in the Next sale for £2?! I love how well it goes with the blazer, it's my current favourite outfit combination.

I'm also having a bit of an eBay clear-out at the moment. I'm selling clothes from Topshop, Urban Outfitters, Lipsy, H&M and a couple of vintage pieces too. Click here to see the items I'm selling :)

The BAFTAS - or maybe not...

I didn't do my usual celeb style post yesterday, as I was planning on posting about last night's BAFTAS and the outfits on the red carpet. But I was quite disappointed with the range of dress. Of course, Emma Watson looked as amazing as always, and Jessica Alba looked stunning too, but no-one else really stood out to me. The usually gorgeous Gemma Arterton wore a dull black velvet dress which made her look ill, JK Rowling looked like a dead snake... although Helena Bonham Carter looked a lot better than usual. At least she wore matching shoes to this awards ceremony!

I went on 300 mile round trip at the weekend and had a little reunion with my best friends from school (we all now live all over the country, so they only happen once or twice a year) as one of them is moving to Luxembourg next week and I popped in to see the family whilst I was up there. My lovely lovely cousin sent me off with a bunch of roses too! That was my only Valentines gift this year, being newly single - but this is the first Valentines Day I've been single in 9 years and I'm going to make the most of it. I have an evening of pampering myself to look forward to!

I'll leave you all with my friend Katie's Facebook status from earlier: "Happy Valentines to all the couples out there, may your love last forever... and to all of the single people out there, may your batteries last forever!"

This is me

The other day I came across a campaign called Nature Made Us Beautiful by two of the lovely ladies behind British Style Bloggers (thanks to Lauren's entry and Becky's entry).

The aim of the campaign is to persuade the media to use a more diverse range of images of women. They want bloggers to take part in several challenges in this campaign and this is the first one. It's called "This is Me" and the aim is to show the world who are you and what represents you.

Here's mine - I like to think I'm not a "typical woman" and can't easily be pigeonholed into a category. I think it's a great idea - there's so much pressure in the media today to be and look a certain way, and this campaign will help prove that women are individuals and aren't meant to look or act the same way.

Click on the links at the top to find out more about the challenge and to take part in promoting this worthwhile cause :)

Camel tones

Yet another work outfit post! I don't have to be as "corporate" in the way I dress at my new work, so I get to wear clothes that are more like what I'd wear outside of work. So no more suits, yay!

cardigan: next / vest top: h&m / skirt: miss selfridge / tights: asos / platform heels: new look / watch: next

I have to say, I can't stop wearing this camel skirt at the moment! I got it in the Miss Selfridge pre-Christmas sale for £15 and I'm still a bit obsessed with it. Even though the tights are plain, I'm ecstatic I've finally found some opaque 100 denier tights. It's like wearing leggings, I love them! Will definitely be buying another few pairs of them.

The heels are also new, but I'll be devoting a whole new post in the next week to the shoe shopping day I had. It was a good day :-) Some girls are obsessed with bags, some with jewellery, but I'm a shoes girl. And an underwear girl, I have about two binbags of underwear!

I'm going over to a friend's house tonight - he's cooking me slow-cooked beef with roasted veg and I'm excited, but also nervous. I don't think I've ever eaten anything he's cooked before and I'm not sure how good a cook he is... but we'll have to wait and see! I think we're also going to watch A Single Man. It looks like a great film and to make it even better, it was directed by the incredibly talented Mr Tom Ford. I'll let you know what I think of it it my next post, but I have a feeling I'm going to love both the film and the styling...

Working girl

I know I don't normally post the outfits I wear to work, but I love today's outfit and wanted to share it with you all!

blouse: matalan / trousers: new look / belt: primark / watch: ice / bangle: topshop / pumps: h&m

Bought these trousers last week from amongst the dregs of the New Look sale. A bargain at £7! The blouse is fairly new too, it feels silky and of quite a high quality for Matalan - I usually find their clothes feel cheap and badly-made, which is why I don't normally shop there. But this blouse is an exception!

And for the first time I haven't cropped my face out of the photo. I took it when I got back from work and I like my hair today, so I thought I'd treat you all! Don't get used to it though...

I've been neglecting this blog over the last couple of weeks because of the new job, but I'm going to promise you all now I'll try and get at least another couple of blogs in this week.

Did you all have a good weekend? I didn't have anything planned for Sunday, so I spent all day in bed watching Green Wing. I'm currently very obsessed with Mac, so if you talk to me and I go on about him I'll apologise now! I'll leave you all a photo of him now so you can join me in my obsession.

YUM.

That is all.

Celeb red carpet style - Diane Kruger

I will admit right now, I'm a bit jealous of Diane Kruger. Not only has she worked with Quentin Tarantino, Brad Pitt (on more than one occasion), Eric Bana, Orlanda Bloom... but she's also got a lovely boyfriend in the form of Joshua Jackson (aka Pacey from Dawsons Creek - I'm so jealous!).

Now I'm not too sure what to make of this dress. Diane wore this to the National Movie Awards in London last year and certainly turned heads. She has an incredible figure and pulls it off, but I'm really not a fan - the shape is gorgeous, and I love the shoes, but the colour, pattern and material really don't do anything for me.

I'm used to seeing her looking stunning on the red carpet, which you'll see evidence of below!

I love this dress! It's the gorgeous ivory silk Marchesa dress that she wore to the Cannes Film Festival back in 2009, for the premiere of Inglorious Basterds (amazing film by the way!). Long white dresses are often a bit too "weddingy" on the red carpet, and they can be difficult to pull off. But the cape and the gorgeous embroidered detail make it a bit different to all the other white dresses that celebs favour at premieres.
Now I'm not too sure about this dress. Even though it's a Chanel dress and it was her look for the 2010 Oscars, I'm not a fan. I don't like the changing textures of the layers - they make her look curvy in a bad way, and really do nothing for her figure. If it was the same texture throughout and didn't have the black chiffon breaking it up into sections then I might think differently.

But don't even get me started on the high halterneck!

I think this is my favourite of all of Diane Kurger's red carpet looks - she wore this dress to the 2009 Venice Film Festival. I absolutely adore the shape and style of her dark green dress, the pleated skirt is absolutely gorgeous. The shoes really bring the outfit all together and I must have them!

This dress wouldn't necessarily be seen as a "typical" red carpet dress, and when I was having a look for any celebs that have worn similar style dresses I couldn't find a single one, which is a rarity!

I like this simple white shift dress the gorgeous Miss Kruger wore to the People's Choice Awards in 2010. It's cute and she's got the legs for it! Pared with gladiator-style heels and simple silver accessories, it looks fab. She pulls off both long evening gowns and short dresses incredibly well, and she branches out into both styles as opposed to sticking to one style that works for her, as many other stars do.

The custom made Jason Wu dress Kruger wore, above, to the 2010 Screen Actos Guild Awards is divine, but it really reminded me of a similar mustard yellow dress that Michelle Williams (see below) wore 4 years previously. I love both of the dresses! I normally can't stand the colour yellow, but I've been warming to mustard yellow recently and am now on the hunt for a cardigan in that shade. The colour obviously seems to work on pale blondes as they both look absolutely stunning.

And on that note, next week's featured celeb will be Michelle Williams!
